Josh Pianto

Josh was born and raised in the Kiewa Valley of North East Victoria. A third-generation bricklayer, he commenced his agricultural career in 2011 taking on a farmhand position in the dairy industry. Here his love of animal husbandry and low-stress stock handling grew as well as his passion for training working dogs.

From there Josh moved to Yenda in 2013, where he worked in a family-farming cropping operation as well as dabbling in sheep trading himself. His strengths in farm operation and maintenance management were developed here along with his knowledge and skills in broad-acre, dryland cropping.

In August 2019 Josh and his wife Kate, moved their family to Merriwagga where he took on the role of farm manager for DB Group. His role involves the management and operation of DB Group’s ‘Merriwagga Farms’ producing wheat, canola and fodder crops to maintain the breeding flock that is stationed at Merriwagga. With a keen focus to head up and expand the livestock enterprise, Josh intends to extend his education in this commodity.

Josh and Kate have three children; Ruby, Tommy and Pippa. In 2022 they became unit holders within the group.
